The Old Town with serial number 121427 is a ten foot long, AA (or top) grade, sailing dinghy model with a metal centerboard, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany seats, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between April and July, 1937. The original exterior paint color was white with a T. (tropical?) green bottom. It shipped on July 3rd, 1937 to Two Harbors, Minn. The back side of the scan shows that it may have moved to Edina, Minn. by March of 1983 when there was a previous request for a copy of this build record. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See
http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and
http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.
It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your dinghy. Replacement oar locks are available from
http://www.shawandtenney.com/productdisplay/patent-swivel-rowlocks and originals show up on eBay.com regularly. You will probably need to buy new bases as well since these came in many different sizes and not all of them are interchangeable. A large three strand line would have been tacked on for the rub rail so that the tacks were not visible as shown below. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration,
Benson
