Hi everyone.

My wife and I have 2 kids uder 2. Both girls love boating. We hoped to find an old wooden boat for the family to enjoy being out on the water.

We found a 14' OldTown outboard skiff that was in the process of rebuilding/restoring. I'd love as much advice as I can get, particularly from anyone who has restored a similar boat.

Information I have on the boat

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town with serial number 05197 is a 14 foot long Outboard Skiff model with a keel, a floor rack, and a twenty inch transom. It was built in March, 1962. The original exterior paint colors were green on the inside and white on the outside. It was shipped on April 9th, 1962 to South River, New Jersey. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match.
