old town canoe serial number search

Dave,

Old Town number 30336 belonged to a 16-foot AA (or top) grade Charles River model canoe that was built between 1914-16 and shipped in 1916 to Ottawa, Canada. It was all mahogany and had a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was originally dark red.

If you are selling your canoe and plan to use this build record information as part of an ad, please consider giving the WCHA credit for this information on eBay or craigslist or wherever your canoe is listed.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thanks Norm for the speedy reply . This canoe is still in the family of the original owner after all these years. My brother in law has passed it on to me , unfortunately it has fallen into disrepair and I am in the process of rebuilding it. Lots of rot at both stern and bow, the rib ends are also rotted and require extensions scarfed on to them. Still have the original floor board and back rest. It will be a long winter spent in the basement but well worth the effort in the spring when I plan to float it once again. Dave.

Dave,
If you run into problems, you can find lots of help on this forum, and in the books available in the bookstore. The Charles River is a nice boat, and you've got an old one. Isn't it great that it's still in the family?
