Hi Guys,
Thanks for providing this search tool, it's amazing that these records have been preserved!
(...and the donation on the way)
I recently acquired an Old Town Canoe that I'm starting to restore.

The serial number is,
17 77750

I've included a pic of the serial number off the stern stem.

Thanks again!
Dino

The Old Town canoe with serial number 77750 is a 17 foot long, AA (top or premium) grade Ideal model with western red cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany seats, decks and thwarts, and equipped with half ribs. The dates are largely illegible on this record, but it appears that building began on April 4, 1923. The original exterior paint color was dark blue, with a gold stripe with Greek ends -- OT's design no. 17. It was shipped to Smith's ferry, Massachusetts on May 28, 1923. Scans of this build record and paint design can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail images attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
