We have an old wooden Old Town Canoe from our parents and are wondering about its history: serial #1136 from what we can tell and then the #16 which we are assuming means it's 16 feet long. Can you help?
That is an extremely low serial number. Please take another look at the numbers stamped into both stems. We like photos! Decks, gunwales, stem profile, seats all help make an ID. Or perhaps built by some company other than Old Town. Tom McCloud
The lowest known Old Town build record is number 1604 so no other information about one this low is available as Tom mentioned. The pictures he suggested along with ones showing the serial numbers from each end would help a lot. The information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?791 may be useful if the numbers are hard to read. Thanks,
