This canoe I inherited from my parents. It is Old Town Registered # 95896, is 16 Feet long, has a plaque on the stern deck showing the names: Weeks Howe Emerson Co. Distributors, 90 Market Street San Francisco. My parents purchased her before I was born (1933) and this red canoe has been a member of our family ever since. Dad set up a complete sailing aparatus in 1965 that he used very successfully many times.

After I establish the history, I intend to sell her to a loving family. Please see if you can document its history.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 95896 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, and a keel. It was built between 1927 and 1928. The original exterior paint color was dark red. It shipped on March 23rd, 1928 to San Francisco, Calif.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
