Old Town Canoe 156114

The Old Town canoe with serial number 156114 is an 11 foot long, AA (or top) grade, fifty pound model with western red cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, and a keel. It was built between June and July, 1951. The original exterior paint color was white and Yale blue arranged in a design that is similar to the image at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design46.gif and known as design number 46. It shipped on July 25th, 1951 to Baltimore, Maryland. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

I was working on my canoe today and notice another serial number on the opposite end of my canoe. The number was 158144. The information you sent on 156144, the first number I saw, seems to matches the canoe. Could this just be an error on the part of Old Town or just wear over the years?
