old town Canadienne

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 245404 and hull identification number XTC45404M83B is a 16 foot long fiberglass Canadienne model with wood rails. (This serial number is also duplicated on a 17 foot long Tripper model in red but that doesn't match your pictures.) It was built in September, 1982. The original exterior gelcoat color was white. It shipped on November 19th, 1982 to dealer number 172200. The back side of the card indicates that the outside rails were split so it was probably sold at a discount. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

Interesting, I've pulled the rails both inner and outer going to clean and re-finish looks like rails are ash on the inner and Mahogany outer, I will also repaint the fiberglass in some sort of low gloss military green or camo this will be my hunting canoe. Im assuming a good automotive lacquer paint

You could also use hardware store polyurethane floor enamel, mixed to just about any custom color, like this yellow, then either sprayed or rolled and tipped as on this canoe. Another paint I have used on fiberglass hulls is Home Depot's Epoxy Concrete and Driveway Enamel which I used on my wood stripper North Canoe. Tough stuff.
