Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi I have a lead on old town 212156, I believe it is from 1972. Was wondering if anyone has the model detail for that canoe before I look into it further. Really appreciate the help on this forum, thank you!

Welcome back, the Old Town canoe with serial number 212156 is a 16 foot long fiberglass Carleton model with a keel that weighed 81 pounds. It was built in February, 1976. The original exterior gelcoat color was green. It shipped on December 21st, 1976 to Springfield, Massachusetts. The back side of this record shows that it had been scratched and chaffed on the side so it was sold as a number two at a discount. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join, or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. See http://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/16795/ for a similar canoe and the pages from the 1973 catalog that describe it. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
