Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi all!
Super fortunate to have stumbled upon this forum! I recently took a chance on an Old Town canoe that I think is an 88. It also has a flat transom for a motor, must be at least 15 feet and I believe it’s fiberglass. It has some hull damage I have to repair. Any other info or help with identifying the history of this model would be super helpful!

The serial number is…XT C93052G7 88.

Thank you in advance!!!!

I was able to research the paper records at the factory yesterday and got an image of this build record. The Old Town canoe with hull identification number XTC93052G788 and serial number 293052 is an 16 foot long Square Stern model. It was built in July, 1987. The original exterior color was green. It shipped on July 24th, 1987 to Albuquerque, New Mexico. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions and I will try to respond more quickly.
