Old Town?? 164019

I am fortunate to have been given my grandfathers old boat. I have been told that it is an Old town, but I am not sure. It is 14'? (approx. guess) all wood construction and has the original green canvas covering, though it is cracked and very cool brass oar lock mounts??. Overall it is in decent condition, been kept under the camp (dry) for at least 30 years. Canvas needs replacement and it has one small hole in stern deck (one plank). Any help in identifying what model this is, or even if it is an Old town would be greatly appreciated.

Serial #/ HIN# 164019

Thank you kindly
Erik

The Old Town with serial number 164019 went on a 12 foot long, AA (or top) grade sport boat model with half ribs and a keel. It was built between September and November, 1955. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on May 21st, 1956 to Beverly, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your boat. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the repairs and restoration,

Benson
