Old Town 154239

The Old Town canoe with serial number 154239 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with low ends, western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, seats, and a keel. It was built between Aprl and May, 1950. The original exterior paint color was dark green enamel. It shipped on June 8th, 1950 to Ely, Minn. The back side of the record shows that it may have moved to Faribault, Minn. by 1976 when there was a previous request for a copy of this build record.

Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the thumbnail images attached below. These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

Thanks Benson for the quick service.

This is one I bought and restored several years ago, and just sold today.
I bought it from Carlson, who got it either from Sommers or an alumni of Sommers.
I'll pass the build record on to the new owner.

Dan
