Norumbega Winter Meeting

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
In Memoriam
It has been a mild winter so far and it feels like the end of March right now, but the Norumbega Chapter Winter Meeting is upon us! I have always said this event is the first real sign of spring!

Once again, we have made arrangements to hold the meeting at the Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA. We have reserved the Trading Post Lodge for Sunday, February 12, 2012 for our gathering, so, save the date now on your calendar.

The plan is to start the meeting off at noon with a lunch; beef stew, sodas and sandwich makings will be provided and perhaps others will bring along salads and desserts to round out the menu. Contact Steve Lapey to find out what you should bring so we can coordinate things.

After lunch, we will have a social hour or two, a business meeting and a few presentations. Members are encouraged to bring in any projects that you have going on to share with others. If the weather holds out, there is a small lawn area where we could put a few canoes to look at. Bring your latest rehab project or UFO for tentative identification. Last year’s “Buck a Book” sale was such a success, we will do it again. Bring in any books that you are finished with on canoeing or the outdoors, we will put them out for sale and the proceeds will go to help support our Chapter.

To get to the Hale Reservation, use Exit 16B, Route 109, off I-95 (Route 128). Follow Route 109 west towards Westwood and take the fourth right, Dover Road. Take the third right off Dover Road onto Carby Street. Continue on Carby an eighth of a mile to the main entrance. The Trading Post Lodge is about a mile into the Reservation on the right; there is a parking lot across the street.

See you there!

Fitz
