NORTHWEST CHAPTER OF THE WOODEN CANOE HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
Fall 2013 MEET Fall Meet will be at Manning Provincial Park
in British Columbia, September 13, 14, 15, 2013
Peterborough Raffle Canoe
Program:
2013 Fall Meet Manning Park, BC Lone Duck Campground
Access: On Highway 3, 1 hour East of Hope, BC or 1 hour West of Princeton, BC.
Western border crossings from the U.S would be Blaine, Lynden or Sumas and in the East, Nighthawk or Oroville.
At Manning Park headquarters, look for group campsite "Lone Duck 2" on Lightning Lakes. There will be small orange canoe cutouts tacked up
at strategic spots to turn. See attached map or find map at Manning Park website.
Lone Duck campsite: No RV hookups. No electricity. Available: potable water.
Room for tents, be sure to bring tarps in case of rain Canadians please bring firewood, US not allowed to bring in firewood
Friday:
Check-in when you arrive: noon onwards……
Meet and Greet…set up camp, paddle in lake or hike, on your own for dinner, then…
Will have a campfire in the evening; anyone who would like to lead us in some voyager/campfire songs or play a musical instrument
would be greatly appreciated. If no songs, bring some good stories.
Saturday:
Dawn Patrol
Breakfast on your own~we will have coffee, tea and muffins
9AM~View canoes, Q&A, introduce your canoe and yourselves
10 AM~Bill Dengler will grace us with his Decorative and Practical knots
11:30~ Paddle down lake to a hike/lunches on your own and back to camp in the afternoon
4PM~Club Auction while there's light~bring all that "good stuff" treasure, wine, homemade treats, etc.,
and we'll also be finalizing the Chestnut canoe raffle~a lucky person will be taking home their prize!
6PM~ A Spaghetti dinner sponsored by the club with your pot-lucked salads and desserts
After dinner around the campfire: Please bring your Voyageur stories and songs and musical instruments. Any other camp songs will be appreciated by all.
**We may have Chris and Barb Cooper willing on Saturday to demonstrate paddling skills
