1. The Annual Silent Boat Rally taking place on Lake of Bays on July 27th, 2024.
This is a paddling event. We start at Dwight Beach at 9:00am and paddle 1 km along the Dwight Bay shore to the mouth of the Lower Oxtongue. From the lake it's 4.5 km paddle up the winding river to Marsh's Falls. Take your time and explore the meanders and bays along the way. Each boat will have a list of 36 plants and animals to look for. Prizes are awarded for the most species found. When you reach the falls land at the Marsh's Falls Nature Reserve. Stretch your legs, enjoy a catered lunch by the falls and explore our walking trails. Return to Dwight Beach by 2:00pm. Cost $25 per person. This year organizers are allowing group registrations and pre- payment. We have enough funds to pay for Northern Lakes members who would like to attend. If you are going please let Murat Vardar know by Saturday July 20 so he can register our Northern Lakes participants. For those interested, after the paddle we are going to visit Lanford Canoe's new showroom which is less than a kilometer from Dwight Beach.

2. The Make a Splash Festival - Gravenhurst, Sunday August 4
The Town of Gravenhurst hosts an annual free paddling event every August at Gull Lake Rotary Park Beach. The family friendly, fun-filled day allows folks to try out a variety of paddling craft supplied by the town. The Town will provide PFDs for those participating and the waterfront will be monitored by lifeguards on duty. Local outfitters will be bringing in canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and the associated equipment required like safety kits, paddles, etc. The Northern Lakes Chapter will have an information booth and displays of wooden canoe craft including a 3-foot model birchbark canoe under construction. If you are interested in helping out at our information booth please let Alex or Murat know. This will be a fun day and a chance to try out a variety of water craft. We hope to see you there.

While not an event we are officially attending, on Saturday July 20 Parks Canada is hosting their Lock & Paddle 2024 in Peterborough . It's early this year and falls on the same weekend as the WCHA Assembly. It should be a fun day. If you attend please send photos so we can post them on our website.
