Hello,
Old Town 148678 is a 17 foot CS (common sense or middle grade) Otca model canoe that was finished between May and July of 1947. It was planked in Western red cedar, has open spruce gunwales and has decks, thwarts and seats made of ash. It has a keel and was originally painted bright red. It was shipped to Capt. HM Mikkelson's Marine Base in Sparta, NJ, on April 4, 1948. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.
This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
