Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Hi, I just picked up three canoes in New Jersey. Got them home in good shape (beat the snowstorm/sleet/rain/freezing rain by inches). They are snug in the shop and I am beginning to evaluate the best of the 3 for restoration. If anyone can provide any information on these I would be grateful.
1. 12394-18. it is a 16' closed gunnel in fairly good shape. Looks like some rib repairs and planking, seats, decks, keel and stems. I think the seller said it was a Carlton but was sold as an Old Town. (Not sure how that works?)
2. 38307- is a 1916 Charles River Old Twon. It has been fiber glassed but I think with elbow grease and a lot of patience it will be a beauty.
3. 143346-18 (I think). That is about all I know about it. It has been broken in half (for now she is dubbed the PT-109) but looks to be repairable.
Thanks for any info you can offer.
