Klondike serial number

Does anybody know what method Elmer Johnson used for assigning serial numbers to his canoes? I have a 16' Klondike with a serial number of k7188 and am trying to determine the canoe's age. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll call Mrs Johnson and see if she might know. Though the last time I spoke to her she wasn't all that friendly.

Scott Barkdol may know. He and Al Hemmingston acquired some of Elmer's molds a few years back. Don't know what happened though.
