Is there any way to identify a wood and canvas Kennebec canoe without the brass plate that is under the stern seat? I can see a spot where the oval name plate used to be, but it is missing.
Most Kennebec canoes have a serial number on each inside stem. See the message at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?t=791 for help finding these numbers. Some of the other characteristics are listed at http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/id/ in the Wood Canoe Identification Guide. White canoes also had oval name plates occasionally. Post some pictures here and see what other people think.
