The Kennebec canoe with serial number 19769 is shown on page 136 of volume three in the Kennebec ledgers. This was assigned to 17 foot long Kennebec model which may have originally had sponsons that were built by McInnis on May 12th, 1928. It was planked by Roy on the same day. The canvas covering and first filler coat were applied by Williams on May 19th, 1928. Roy applied the second filler coat on June 2nd, 1928. It was railed by King on June 16th, 1928. The original color was Ital (Italian?) red. It shipped on August 27th, 1928 to location "28-1182". This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.
The scans of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.
The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

There is a list of restorers in Maine at
http://www.wcha.org/buildsupply/us/me.html and two of them frequently help answer questions here. The nearest one to you is Dan Eaton at

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
