Kennebec #19101

The Kennebec canoe with serial number 19101 is a 12 foot long Kennebec model type A as shown on the top of page 111 of volume three in the Kennebec ledgers. It was planked by Morgan on July 17th, 1926. The canvas covering and the first filler coat was put on by Tuttle on July 31st, 1926. Thibadeau applied the second filler coat on September 4th, 1926. The rails were applied by Mansell on October 16th, 1926. The original color was green. It shipped to location "27-96" on March 15th, 1927. This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.

The scans of these build records are available at http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11366&d=1277753047 and http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11367&d=1277753047 here. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) as you probably know well. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

More information about the Kennebec models can be found in the Kennebec catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD available from http://merchandise.wcha.org/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
