I don't recall if the ribs were discussed in this or one of the several other discussions about her boat or if it came up while we were looking a the boat in her garage? Regardless, that is the way these are built.

I wonder why they used the split ribs on these when they used the full length rib on all other canoes.
And I wonder how it affects the strength.
