Information Request on Old Town Otca

The Old Town canoe with serial number 145788 is a 16 foot long, CS grade, Otca model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash trim, a keel, a floor rack, and a full length bang plate. It was built between June and September, 1946. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on September 23rd, 1946 to Southbridge, Massachusetts.

Replacement parts are still available from Old Town and many of the restorers listed at http://www.wcha.org/buildsupply/ if you are looking for a local resource.

A "full length bang plate" is a brass stem band that extends from stem tip to stem tip protecting the full length of the keel. They are identified in the diagram at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/specific.gif from the specifications page. Let me know if this is not clear and I can add a picture.
