Identification Help Please

I have been trying to track down some information on an Old Town canvas covered canoe that I recently inherited from my grandfather. From the information that I have been able to gather it is 18 foot and the serial number is 159175 and is complete with all the fixings for sailing. I would like to know what model it is and the original colors.

I would appreciate any help I could get, as I would like to restore it for sentimental reasons and keep it in the family.

I'm afraid you will have to take another look for the serial number. Compare both stems and carefully clean the area to get better look at the number.

159775 was assigned to a 15' Lapstrake Outboard Boat in AA grade. It had 54' decks. I'm guessing this is not the boat in question. The build record is attached just for your information.

My mistake, Dan.

This one looks a little closer. 159175 is assigned to an 18' HW model in AA grade. Though not specifically listed, AA usually meant mahogany decks, seats, thwarts and outside rails.

This boat had half ribs, a floor rack, sponsons and a rub rail was installed. With all that, it should be easy to confirm if it is this canoe. It was painted in design #45. There is no mention of a sail rig, though that could have been added afterwards. It was shipped to Clair, MI in April 1953. Build Record is attached.
