Help Identifying Canoe

Hello!

My father has an old wooden canoe which we believe may be an old town. However, we really know nothing about it except he received it from his father in law some time in the late 70's early 80's. He was about to get rid of it until it was suggested we find out what it really is.

That being said, I've posted several pictures to help and a serial number was found 121083-17.

Any information or help figuring out what we have would be a huge help! Thank you!

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 121083 is a 17 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Otca model with open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between March, 1937 and February, 1938. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on May 16th, 1938 to Paterson, New Jersey.
