The one thing that makes me think it was possibly a production built canoe is the odd galvanized stamping that attaches the stem an inwales. It is definitely a stamping made for the purpose and not something someone cut out with snips or a hacksaw. It’s an interesting and probably very effective way to attach them.
I agree with the idea of the thwarts being attached in an unusual way and the other stuff JC and Michael said. The thwarts are attached well enough to lean against, but sitting on one would have produced a very quick bath.
It is what it’s, as they say! It will make a really nice decorative hanger for someone down the line.
