Curious about Wooden Canoes
I have been canoeing since I was about 12 when attended Boy Scout camp and took the Canoeing Merit Badge class. I still remember them telling us to capsize that canoe in the cold lake just to see how stable it was. My dad purchased me a canoe (not wood) later that year and I have been hooked ever since. While living in Pennsylvania a friend received an Old Town canoe in much need of restoration. We used it and then it went into the barn and my guess is still there after 35 years. I always like that canoe and thought it should be restored. Now that I have the time and resources I am looking for a project like that Old Town to work on.

I am currently am restoring a wooden dory that we use in the San Juan Island and have a Pygmy sea kayak that I built and have used on numerous 50 mile Boy Scout trips and day trips around the islands and and in the bays.
