Gallupe canoe

My name is Alex and I’m am the great grandson of Asa Gallupe. I’m trying to gather information about the canoe and trying to see if I can make one myself. I was to preserve the history and family name on this. I was in contact with the Maine State Museum in Agusta and they still have one that was a gift from Asa to Levi Dow the Chief ranger for the forest and game commission in Aroostook county. They don’t know any details if a mold still exist. My mom told me they were kept in a barn and it burned down. Any information is greatly appreciated Alex

Thread 'Asymmetric 20 ft canoe Gallupe?'

I am looking at an older 20 foot, asymmetrical rib and plank canoe, and I wonder if it may have been built off a Gallupe mold. If I'm correct, the Gallupe Aroostook Chief had half ribs. This one It doesn’t have half ribs. Does anyone know of any other manufacturers that built asymmetric canoes?
