Fiji mahogany

Fiji or Fijian mahogany. Anyone ever hear of this? I'm looking for long length mahogany for outwales and this is apparently available near me in Lancaster, PA, sold as exterior (porch) flooring in 5/4"x4". Photos appear to show rift sawn pieces (45 degree grain). Would this be suitable for outwales? Thanks, Pat

Yes, thanks, I did read McIlvain's blog post and their attitude seems to be positive with regard to this product. The supplier near me is selling pallet quantities in the range of $3000 per pallet- far more than I would use in a lifetime! Their pallets all have various lengths but most include 18'/19' pieces. I have messaged them about their willingness to pull out several 18'-19' pieces to sell individually. If they are willing I may give it a try.

I have mahogany porch decking on my home which I installed 15 years ago and with only a couple coats of Australian Timber Oil (Cabot's Stains) it has held up well to southern exposure.
