The guy lives in Duluth. I'd take him seriously about his threat to cut them up. Last fall he had a 17' Old Town for sale on ebay for $150 in the ad he said he'd cut it up if it didn't sell. I wrote to him with questions about the pictures which seemed to show about half of each end missing - easily six inches of stem, planking and deck missing. When the auction ended with no bids I wrote back and told him that if he reposted it on ebay, I'd bid the $150 - I expected he'd repost or work a non-ebay sanctioned side deal. I am not sure that I wanted it but I was ready for a trip to Duluth. He wrote back and said he'd get back to me but he never did. Two days later he had them cut in half and posted on ebay for at least $150 a half. The half canoe pictures showed the same missing ends. I wondered how he would sell them but he must have sold them, cause here he is again. In fairness to the guy, he strikes me as someone just trying to get by, he's got a market for these things and he's gonna sell them when he can. I don't think the logic of saving old canoes, or in the extreme, being wood canoe righteous will mean much to him. I hope someone buys them or we'll be seeing these canoes on ebay again, a little shorter this time.
