I attended the Quiet Water Symposium Saturday and among the cool, cool stuff I bought a dvd from Jim Miller. He makes a birch bark canoe. Jim is well known in Michigan as an expert in ancient technologies. Making fire, brain tanning, anything ancient. He had a wonderful canoe on display as well. Ask Gil, it was a nice one. Anyway, the dvd can be puchased from Jim. www.willowwoods.net the dvd is produced by Silvertip Production. www.silvertip.net It is very good quality video. It is a little slow paced at times but I don't know of any other video on birch bark canoes.
I recommend it.

I have viewed Jim's DVD and must give it a very high rating. For anyone interested in building either models or full-sized birchbark canoes, it's a must see. Well done Jim.
