Hello,
Just bought a cedar rib and canvas canoe in northern Maine. The model on the plaque in front is written Connecticut Chief with a serial number of 000435. Any information on such a canoe?

I've never heard of this model and haven't been able to find anything on the internet about it. The list at http://wcha.org/legacypages/maine-list.htm shows that there were many builders in Maine over the years. Asa Gallupe built many "Aroostook Chief" models from 1938-1952 in Fort Fairfield so you may have a variation of one from his shop. Please reply here if you find any more information. Good luck,
