Anyone can learn to canoe
Hi there folks, I just finished applying a second coat of varnish oil to my latest paddle build. The blade is a design of my own that I call the trapper. It's a combination of an otter tail and the modern voyageur blade designs. The shaft is made of cedar and ash, the blade and top grip is walnut. because the shaft is very light I was concerned that a walnut blade would throw off the balance of the paddle so I decided to add the longer modified northwoods grip in an effort to balance the weigh. The finish is a varnish oil with polymerized linseed oil and natural pine resins.
