The Carleton canoe with serial number 15418 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Carleton model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, and a keel. It was built between September and December, 1920. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 18th, 1921 to The Weirs in Laconia, New Hampshire. A scan showing this build record can be found below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to donate or renew.
It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
The color is DGreen (Dark Green). The subsequent word is "Packed."
The model is a challenge. It might be "Carl" for Carleton. It would be the Carleton Open Gunwale model , since your record indicates open spruce gunwales.
