Carlton information 18659 17?

I am starting on my Carlton this summer. Can anyone shed some light on this boat? It is 18659 17.
I am also curious if this is the original paint color.

Added:
I am assuming that it was built in the OT factory since it has the OT diamond head bolts holding the thwarts and seats.
Rails, decks etc are all mahogany. Has a small painter ring on the bow deck and it has floor boards (that someone re-made, not original, hardware is though). You should be able to see a keel and outside stems in the photo. I have added a photo of the deck tag.

Carleton canoe 18659 is a 17 foot AA grade Carleton model with Western red cedar planking and open mahogany gunwales. It was given Design A (attached for comparison) and shipped March 17, 1924 to Rochester, NY.

Design A image, found in the 1924 Carleton catalog, courtesy of The Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Catalog Collection, version 2, edited by Dan Miller and Benson Gray, published by Dragonfly Canoe Works and available at www.dragonflycanoe.com.

Buiild record attached below is the result of scanning approximately 210,000 records, created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details.

Thanks for joining WCHA!

Thank you Kathy,

While I was updating my post, you replied.

That's about the vintage that I expected. I did not expect that paint job though. Interesting. Have any members painted this design that are willing to share some photo's of the finished product?

So in a strange twist of fate, today I brought this canoe to my home here in Spencerport, a small town just outside of Rochester. What are the odd's of that?

Regards and thanks for you research and thorough reply.

Mike

Just like Lassie-Come-Home...

*You're welcome*-- and it's my pleasure---I always learn something, even from these simple searches!

One of the interesting aspects of build record information involves getting a sense of the canoe's travels...

You might try poking through the archives to see if anyone has posted pictures of this paint job... or anything else interesting re Carleton restoration. Just click on "search" above.

The search is on

I did search the site but I did not find anything to interesting.
I know where the boat spent the past 40 or 50 years. I'll be curious to find out more.
