CANOE FORM TO BE AUCTIONED AT ASSEMBLY

"CANOE FORM FOR WCHA ASSEMBLY AUCTION: A canoe form has very kindly been donated for the Assembly auction at Keuka College in July. It is believed that it is a Potsdam produced form that was built by someone who had very specific Rushton construction experience. Atwood Manley, the author of "Rushton and His Times in American Canoeing," concluded that it was a Rushton Indian Girl form. That attribution is suspect today but the form does produce 16 foot canoes very similar to the Indian Girl. It is believed that the form dates to the 1920’s. The form is a very unique part of the Northern New York canoe building history and it is hoped that it will be acquired by someone who appreciates it and will carefully use it. The form is large and heavy and the successful bidder will need to be able to transport the form away from the Assembly at the end of the auction. The current owner will be available to answer questions about the form prior to the Assembly.
