I've been storing my cedar and canvass Old Town canoe under my deck -- wrapped in a tarp, and sitting on two saw horses. It's been fine, and I've been assured by other forum users that my canoe can withstand the subzero temperatures around here (we hit -40 F each winter).
Unfortunately, my deck height is a bit low, so it's a real pain to store and remove the canoe from under the deck. So, I'm now thinking it might be better to put the canoe on top of a dolly or two, making it easier to store and retrieve it.
Are there any downside to having placing a cedar and canvass canoe on top of a dolly or two while storing it under a deck? I can't imagine there would be, but just want to be sure. Also, are there any canoe dollies others could suggest for such storing and retrieval? And does it make sense to get one or two dollies for this kind of storing / retrieval scenario?
Thanks!
