When someone has time could you look up the build sheet for Old Town #95037. It should be a 15' CS grade with a floor rack and set up for sailing. Thanks.
I'm sorry for the long delay in answering this request but it has been a busy summer. The Old Town canoe with serial number 95037 is a 15 foot long, AA grade, fifty pound model with red Western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany trim, a keel and the possibility of a floor rack. It appears to have been built in 1927. The original exterior canvas covering was painted dark green. It shipped on August 1st, 1927 to Thondara(?), New York. The back side of the card indicates that it may have moved to Salisbury, Conn by May of 1971 when a copy of this build record was provided. Scans showing both sides this build record can be found by following the links behind the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you may know well by now. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.
There is no mention of a sail rig and this is clearly not a CS grade so it is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer. If you have the sail rig and can provide some pictures then I may be able to roughly date the rig from the shape of the leeboards and rudder. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions and I will try to respond more quickly.
