(I'm posting this for Jan Bloom:)

I would like a copy of the build record for OT # 99907 18. I think it should be a HW AA. My grandfather bought this one in 1929. I am currently storing it.
Thanks

Roger/Jan: The Old Town canoe with serial number 99907 is an 18 foot long, AA grade, HW model with open mahogany gunwales, decks and thwarts. It was built with a keel, floor rack, rub rails and a full length bang plate. The canoe was built between November 1928 and July, 1929. The canoe was painted with Design 23 with the name "Manitou" in 4" white letters on either side of the bow. It was shipped on August 5, 1929 to Detroit, Michigan. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

These scans were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
