Back o n the water!

Mike Burdick

Novice at the wood canoe
In 2012 I acquired this 1924 OT HW from a member of my congregation. He said it hadn't been in the water since the 1960s. I reached out to you, WCHA mentors and cheerleaders, looking for advice on how to slap some more glass on it and get it back on the water. So many of you said, "restore it." I said, "I can't." You said otherwise. I asked "Would it cost me $100 or $1,000?" You said, "uh, yep." At each step you were right. I gave up on making it perfect and set my sights on a finished restoration in which I could paddle with my dad (in his 80s) and my grandkids. I reached the goal. I thank God for you, for your knowledge and encouragement, and for the joy of paddling. Thanks!
