B.N.Morris question

Gentlemen, what is the preferred fastener for the Morris deck pieces? I have 3/4 escutcheon pins for the top and side caps as well as the center trim piece. I did not disassemble this project and I have no idea what was used to attach the decks. The original pieces cleaned up pretty well but I need to treat them with some TLC. The fastener obviously need to sit flush as they are covered by the cap trim. Thank you

I use #4 or#6 flat head screws under the rail caps and king plank.
Those won’t be seen when covered. I use escutcheon pins for the rail cap and king plank.
I’ve always wished they made a ring shank escutcheon pin.
Seems like the smooth shank of a regular pin doesn’t hold well in some cases.

Thankyou…. Thought a small flat head screw made sense. What did they use from the factory? The existing holes seem to small for a screw.

They used nails, I think.
