LOVES Wooden Canoes
these are the best pics I have right now,but does anybody have any ideas on maker of this boat. The current owner is trying to find it a good home, but being a big frieghter that needs a fair amount of work I'm not sure I want to tackle it

There are no identifying marks,I will try and get some better pics, and apparently the owner has some history on it,used by exploration company in the arctic about 40 yrs ago

being maybe 24 foot or so with a small transom?
I'd guess a James Bay Freighter, built around Rupert River (see ottertooth.com).
I did one about 10 years ago and wish I owned it. So seaworthy and carries a ton of gear.

Could it be a Wabasco? They were built in Northern Alberta. Pictures are of an 18' Wabasco freighter.

Or maybe it is more like this 20' Chestnut/Peterborough V stern?

Thought it might be a Chestnut, but can't tell from the transom pictures.
The Chestnut transom is so sweet.
Obviously the decks are different, and do resemble the James Bay Freighters, as does the forrard thwart mast partner, though that canoe would be a long way from home.

Thanks for all the replies guys,I am going to try and get to the canoe this week and take some better pics.either way it is a long way from home via the arctic

Finally got a chance to check out this canoe better,It is 17'10'' long,49 1/2 inches wide and 19 inches deep The ribs are 2 1/2 x1/4 inch ribs spaced 3/4 inch apart. Some of the history I found out about it is it was used by an oil exploration company in the arctic in the 50's,here's better pics of the bow and stern
