Any idea on who and what?

Curious about Wooden Canoes
I just "inherited" this 16' canoe. Beam is 34'. I cannot find any tags or labels. Was told it was from early '50s.

Thanks

Looks like a Thompson Hiawatha, I live over in Brightwood, OR and have one of the Thompson forms on which these canoes were built, except mine is for the 18 foot Hiawatha, I'll include some images so you can compare canoes.

Thanks Martin it does look like my boat. Mine has a aluminum strip running down the keel. Was that normal?

I've found that 50's era Thompsons had aluminum stembands, but have never seen one full length on the keel. It is also possible that it was added from a previous restoration.
