Curious about Wooden Canoes
I picked up this old gal in New Hampshire recently and am currently stripping the paint from the inside to prep for proper varnish restoration (Why do people paint things like this again???)
Anyway, The seller "thinks" it's an Od Town from the 1930s that has been in his family for 2 generations, stored in the barn. Glass over canvas (again, uggh) but in overall got shape.
Can someone here do a lookup on this? I'd REALLY appreciate it!
Here are photos of the stem with the serial number 178492 (or maybe 778492 - it's a bit worn down and difficult for me to tell for sure), with some space then the number 16 and also has the words "Lamb & Sons to further confuse the matter for me)I
I've also included a long shot of the entire canoe for reference.
p.s. Pardon the mess. i've just started stripping the paint from the hull interior and ribs so it's "a a work in progress)
Much appreciated!
Colin
