Chris, what is the weird checkerboard pattern on the outside of the hull? Was the fiberglass only attached there instead of everywhere?

Is the "checkerboard" a filler to keep the resin from going into the tack holes?

Its led or something else. I presume to not allow seepage of the fiberglass resin. Although I will have to deal with it in the planking seems, Im not sad that they did it before fiberglass! I'm glad this resided out here in Holland, Michigan!
