The swastika is not the one that the Nazis used. It is actually an old relatively universal symbol that is the opposite of the hakenkruez. It was the symbol for good luck, amongst many other meanings. It is apparently still used in India and other mid eastern cultures. The swastika can be found in many prehistoric cultures, and is found facing both directions. I have seen Sioux battle dresses that had the symbol on them.

We tossed this around in an earlier thread - it shows up in lots of early outdoor books, including some I've got by Ernest Thompson Seton. Now that its almost universally reviled it likely wouldnt find its way into too many restorations.
