Would like to have the build record for canoe 174335 17. I would also like to know about the paint that is on this canoe it is an indian design white mostly with red and blue triangles along the top and a red and white and blue star on the end of the canoe. How rare is the paint?

Hello Jeff,

Old Town 174335 is a 17 foot Otca model canoe completed November 1964-- March 1965. It has half ribs and a keel and was originally painted dark green. The current design is Old Town #4, which is one of Old Town's most popular designs. If you use the "search" function above and put in "design 4", you should find some older discussions of this particular design.

The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Kathy
