I tried something new (to me) applying filler and wonder if others have tried the same and what their results have been.
After applying about 2 sq. ft. of filler I used a print maker's rubber brayer to roll the filler into the weave. It was forced into the weave quite evenly. When about 6 sq. ft. were done this way another layer of filler was applied and rolled in the same way. A third coat was then applied, worked with the canvas mitt and finally polished bare handed. The sides which usually seem to be harder to fill evenly came out with no weave showing. The final results were the best I have ever had. The dried surface took very little sanding before the first coat of paint.
