Which manufacturer stapled ribs to inner gunwals ?

I am doing some repairs to what was thought to be a Rilco / Richardson canoe,
Finding every rib has been stapled to the inner gunwal, no sign of nails.
Steel staples just to make it worse.
Which manufacturer has been known to do this ?
Thank you in advance.

Are you sure is not an after market repair that someone has done with and air stapler (steel) I have had several boats in my shop with both ribs and canvas done quickly with steel air staples. Nails may have rusted out before since many companies used steel nails in that area of construction (can't for the life of me guess as to why when the rest of the boat was built with brass, copper or bronze)

At least some modern Old Towns have ribs stapled to gunwales. Right now I'm working on a 1981 Old Town Molitor that was constructed using long staples with narrow footprint. Two staples were applied per rib, just as earlier canoes had two fasteners from the rib into the inwale.
