Steve Guerriero from the Charles River Museum in Waltham, Massachusetts has just kindly shared the advertisement below from the Waltham Record in May, 1905. Page seven of their 1906 catalog below has a similar image. Fun stuff,

Interesting. I never developed a keen interest in the Massachusetts canoes. I am not familiar with Perry canoes. I have owned Robertson, Waltham, passed on Kingsberry and Nutting but Perry is a blank to me. What is it we should minimally know about them?

It's all explained in the Waltham Canoe Company chapter of my Charles River book-in-progress (well, a lot of it is explained anyway. The PDF is attached. Its a work in progress, so lots of rough edges still.

BTW I recently acquired a Waltham canoe that may be from this 1905ish time period.

The inside cover of some J. R. Robertson catalogs after 1900 also feature his awards from the Massachusetts Charitable Association (excluding 1896) as shown below.

This is a book that needs to be published. I'd like two copies because I have plans to give one as a gift.
I just finished mowing my lawn. I roughed out a couple verses and the refrain to Canoe Man. I don't know if recently hearing Lou Marini is why the tune is Soul Man, but it works. Could be the 90 plus degree heat is too much for my brain cell.
